ICONE

    Neutron Spectrometer

The neutron spectrometer is an instrument dedicated to the study of the dynamic properties of matter. By measuring the variations in energy and momentum of neutrons after their interaction with a sample, it allows the investigation of atomic and molecular motions within materials.

This technique is particularly used to analyze lattice vibrations (phonons), magnetic excitations (magnons), as well as molecular diffusion phenomena and dynamic processes in complex materials. It provides essential information about the physical mechanisms governing their properties.

Within the framework of the ICONE project, the neutron spectrometer represents a cutting-edge tool for fundamental and applied research. It enables the study of material behavior under different conditions of temperature, pressure or magnetic field, contributing to the development of new materials and innovative technologies.

Neutron spectroscopy provides access to the internal motions of matter and delivers unique information about the mechanisms responsible for the thermal, mechanical and magnetic properties of materials.
