Neutron Monochromators
Neutron monochromators are essential devices in the beamlines of the ICONE facility. Their role is to select a specific wavelength from the spectrum of produced neutrons, in order to provide a monochromatic beam suitable for scientific experiments.
They generally operate using crystals or specific optical systems that diffract neutrons at well-defined angles. This selection improves the experimental resolution and the accuracy of measurements in neutron scattering, diffraction and imaging experiments.
Integrated into scientific instruments, monochromators directly contribute to the quality of experiments performed at ICONE. They make it possible to adapt the neutron beam to the specific requirements of research in materials science, physics, chemistry and life sciences.
