Infrastructure and Technical Services
ICONE • INFRASTRUCTURE • SERVICES
The infrastructure aims to provide all the resources required
for the operation of the scientific and technical facility.
It includes the buildings, technical areas, and essential services
required for the operation of the accelerators, neutron targets,
scientific instruments, and user facilities.
At present, the final location of the facility has not yet been determined.
Buildings
The infrastructure is organised around several categories of buildings
designed to meet scientific, technical, and operational requirements.
Radiological Controlled Areas
Accelerator Building
Facility dedicated to WP4 equipment for proton beam production.
Target–Moderator Areas
Areas housing the neutron production systems of WP3.
Experimental Halls
Scientific areas dedicated to WP2 instruments and experiments.
Hot Workshops
Specialised areas for equipment subject to radioactive activation.
Support Areas
Utility Buildings
Electricity, water, air, and nitrogen systems required by the facility.
Storage and Warehouses
Management of equipment and consumables.
Cold Workshops
Technical areas outside the radiological environment.
Administrative Areas
Reception
Guidance and support for visitors and users.
Offices and Meeting Rooms
Workspaces and scientific coordination areas.
Control Room
Supervision and operation control of the facility.
Outdoor Areas
Fences and Access
Secure management of site entrances.
Traffic and Logistics
Roadways and internal transport infrastructure.
Parking and Green Areas
Staff reception areas and environmental integration.
Technical Services
The operation relies on a set of networks ensuring power supply,
cooling, safety, and fluid management.
Electricity
Power distribution to scientific equipment.
Drinking Water
Supply for buildings and users.
Cooling Water
Cooling of critical equipment.
Liquid and Gaseous Nitrogen
Used for cryogenic systems.
Compressed Air
Industrial technical networks.
Exhaust Air
Treatment and management of releases.
Waste Management
Conventional, chemical, and nuclear waste management.
All these infrastructures and services form the essential operational
foundation required for the reliable, safe, and sustainable operation
of the neutron facility.
